2024’s 30 Under 30 APIA & Palestinian Women
This Women’s History Month, REALSOUL and Creatively Asian are continuing our gallery highlighting 30 young women under 30 who are making history today. While many of the women featured come from Asian American and Pacific Islander communities, this year we also chose to highlight Palestinian women leaders, artists, and organizers whose work continues despite the ongoing war in Gaza.
Women’s History Month is about recognizing contributions that’s often overlooked; however, during global crisises, it reminds us that solidarity across communities matters. The war in Gaza has devastated families and displaced millions, with women and children making up the majority of those affected. According to the United Nations, women and children accounted for a large proportion of casualties in Gaza during the conflict in 2023-2024.
At the same time, Palestinian women continue to organize mutual aid, document stories, advocate for human rights, and care for their communities under extremely difficult conditions. Their leadership reminds us that courage and resilience often emerge in the most challenging moments.
For us, we aim to uplift their work and bring them into the classrooms. Like Palestine, many Asian American communities also carry histories shaped by war, displacement, and diaspora. We see the connections of struggle across the world and encourage empathy and action amongst students and readers.
Women’s History Month is not about looking back at the past. It is also about recognizing the people shaping our world today. By highlighting both young APIA women and Palestinian women, we hope readers, especially young people, can see that leadership, creativity, and care for community exist everywhere.
And in moments like these, solidarity becomes one of the most important lessons we can share.
